Apply For Our Endorsement!

Applications for STL Young Dems’ Candidates Endorsement for the mayoral, comptroller, and board of aldermen races are NOW OPEN.

To apply, candidates must submit a questionnaire and a high-res headshot to stlyoungdems@gmail.com by Sunday, January 17 at 5 p.m.

In 2020, STL Young Dems developed the organization’s mission statement, which was crafted at our open policy committee meeting and approved via vote by members. To seek our organization’s endorsement, we ask that all candidates uphold our mission statement in their past, current, and future actions. If a candidate does not meet the criteria below, they are not eligible to apply for our endorsement and therefore should not fill out the questionnaire.

  1. Candidates must reject all donations from the St. Louis Police Officers Association during the 2021 election cycle.

  2. Candidates must have voted NO on the June 29 resolution to perfect airport privatization, which passed 14-11. If not on the Board of Aldermen during this time, you pledge to fight against any and all efforts to privatize Lambert Airport.

  3. Candidates must have supported Closing the Workhouse in June 2020, as recognized in the organization’s June 26 press release. If not on the Board of Aldermen during this time, you pledge to do the work necessary to Close the Workhouse as soon as possible.

Membership Voting

Members will be able to vote in the endorsement process beginning on Tuesday, January 19. To vote, you MUST be an up-to-date, dues-paying member by Tuesday, January 12 at 11:59 p.m. and have met the attendance requirement of attending at least one STL Young Dems event in 2020.

Memberships lapse after one year. If you're unsure of your membership status, please reach out to us at stlyoungdems@gmail.com.
