Young Democrats of Greater St. Louis

Join Congressman Russ Carnahan for Mardi Gras!

Picture 1

The campaign season is upon us, and we need to work hard to make sure our Democratic Leaders continue their work in DC!

But first let’s have some fun with Congressman Russ Carnahan.

Join Russ for St. Louis’ own Mardi Gras Parade Saturday, February 13.We will show our support for Russ atop an antique fire engine and distribute official ‘Congressman of Soulard’ beads to cheering parade goers.  Parade gets started at 11 am, but volunteers will need to get there a bit early.  Call or email Ivana at 314-534-2004 or ivana@russcarnahan.com for details.

If you rather watch the parade from the sidelines you have another opportunity to join Russ and offer your support.  On Monday, March 8 join Russ for an early St. Patrick’s Day Celebration fundraiser at McGurk’s Irish Pub from 5:30 to 7:30.

Can’t make it March 8, but want to help?  Donate here.

Russ has consistently fought for working families and to responsibly invest in our country’s future.  You’re help is needed.  If you’re unable to join us for these two events please make a contribution today or sign up to volunteer for the campaign.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS: MISSOURI REPUBLICANS VOTE TO RAISE TAXES ON MISSOURI FAMILIES, FARMERS AND SMALL BUSINESSES

For Immediate Release: December 3, 2009

Jefferson City, MO – Roy Blunt, Todd Akin, Jo Ann Emerson, Sam Graves and Blaine Luetkemeyer voted to increase taxes on Missouri families, farmers and small businesses in tough economic times.

Instead of looking out for Missourians, Missouri Republicans once again sided with corporate special interests by voting against the Permanent Estate Tax Relief for Families, Farmers and Small Businesses Act, which would provide tax relief to 99.75 percent of estates. Without this legislation, the estate tax is scheduled to increase to 55 percent – raising taxes on Missouri families and farmers during an economic downturn [Congressional Quarterly, 12/3/09; HR 4154, Vote #929, 12/3/09].

In response to their votes Missouri Democratic Party Executive Director Brian Zuzenak released the following statement: “Actions speak louder than words. Congressman Blunt and his fellow Republicans love to talk about job killing tax increases, but when they had the opportunity to ensure tax cuts for over 99 percent of Missourians, they voted no.”

DFA Training in Columbia- October 4th

 DFA

DFA members are organizing a training in Columbia, MO this October 3rd and 4th.

DFA Campaign Academy trainings exist to empower citizens with the tools to change their communities. Whether you are working to pressure your elected officials to pass a progressive agenda or planning a campaign to unseat them, the DFA Campaign Academy will help you make that happen.

These trainings are more than just academic exercises. We bring together dozens of progressive activists from across the region along with current (and future) candidates and elected officials. It’s a great chance to re-connect with friends from the last campaign, look for a new job or find a volunteer opportunity.

Space is limited. RSVP today so you don’t miss out!
